How to play Shabdak (शब्दक)

You're given a start word and a target word in Hindi. Your goal is to transform the start into the target by changing exactly one character at a time. Every intermediate step must be a valid Hindi word from our dictionary.

For example: काम → दाम (changed क to द — one step). Or a longer chain: कम → दम → दल (two steps).

How to type Hindi

• Mobile: Switch your keyboard to Hindi (most phones have this in keyboard settings)
• Desktop: Add Hindi keyboard in your OS language settings, or use Google Input Tools
• Chrome: Install "Google Input Tools" extension for easy Hindi typing

Tips

• Our dictionary uses common 2-character Hindi words — think simple, everyday words
• Only one character position can change per step
• If stuck, use a hint (max 2 per puzzle) — it reveals the next word in the optimal path
• ⭐⭐⭐ = optimal steps, no hints. Each hint or extra step costs one star.

About Shabdak

Shabdak (शब्दक, "word-maker") is inspired by word ladder puzzles but designed for Hindi. It celebrates the phonetic structure of Devanagari — where changing a single consonant or vowel sign creates an entirely new word with a different meaning.
